Light Affliction
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
“For which cause we faint not, but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of Glory; while we look not at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
– Jesus said that in this life we would have tribulation (little ‘t’) and in that same set of verses, He tells us not to fear, because He has “overcome” this world. (John 16:33)
– Our lives’ are filled with issues, disappointments, and strife. All these problems adversely affect our “outward” man. We must NOT let our current circumstances affect our “inward” man.
– Our inward man should be renewed day-by-day.
o How is our inward man renewed?
§ By walking in Righteousness!! We, as Believers, are called to be righteous (set apart) and different from the World. We must STRIVE after righteousness by doing the Will of God. (Col 3:10)
– Living Holy and abstaining from sin (fleshly desires) is a day-to-day battle. Paul said our inward man is renewed day by day but ACTION, on the Believer’s part, must be taken to achieve this renewal. (Romans 12:1-2)
