Who Told You?
by Minister Chandra Birdlow
Genesis 3:8-11
11And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
It seems like everyone has something to say these days. But amidst this chorus of voices, I wonder, whose words truly resonate with us?
Eve heard a voice call out to her saying, “Did God really say…”. Eve fell into the serpent’s trap, entertaining his deceitful words and allowing her convictions to waver. This influence had a ripple effect on Adam, leading them both towards sin. Consequently, they experienced overwhelming feelings of exposure and disgrace.
The bible says, they heard the Lord God as he walked in the garden, and they hid themselves from the Lord God. But the Lord God call to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked (a shame).” The Lord replied, ” Who told you that you were naked?
In the presence of voices that contradict God’s teachings, we tend to feel scared, embarrassed, and placing blame on others and inclined to distance ourselves from Him rather than seeking solace. Similarly, just as God provided clothing for Adam and Eve, He offers us His covering (verse 21).
Remember the ‘Word Still Works’…In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. In Him is life…
Prayer: Lord, hide your word in my heart that I may not sin again you. Your words are a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. In you will I trust.
