Under Pressure
Taking It To The Lord
9/27/20 (Pastor Tony & Louisa)
Snap Review – Jeremiah 29 (Key Text v11)- Remember the context
Introduction: This series shows God’s best intent is found in life’s worst events and no matter the pressures life brings, God’s plan is always to prosper us. For the past couple weeks, the Lord has reminded us that we have Permission to Breathe– It’s a personal reminder to relax under God’s power, God’s Provision, and God’s Peace. This week we learn how to take things, people, issues & life in general to the Lord & how to leave them there.
Today’s message begins – Jeremiah 29:12-14
12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14 And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity,
Instead many read this passage and say… when you seek the solution, you will find the solution when you search for the solution with all of your heart…. No, It says when you see ME…not just trying to get out of your circumstances.
Do not go looking for the plans…..” look for ME” says the Lord.
(Message Bible says it this way…)
12 “When you call on me when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen.
13-14 “When you come looking for me, you’ll find me.
“I’ll turn things around for you. I’ll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you”—God’s Decree—“bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile. You can count on it.
If you don’t know which way to go, seek him. In pain seek him…confused, seek Him. Tired of waiting, Seek Him. (Possible Demonstration – The LORD Standing right in front of us and we still can’t see or hear Him because we seek his hand & not his face).
One of the main reasons that keep us from the blessings of God is that we can be stubborn
Daniel 9:13
13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this calamity has come on us; yet we have not [a]sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our iniquity and [b]giving attention to Your truth.
TRUTH
Truth – Subjective Truth (Relative Truth)
Objective Truth – Absolute (Always Stable, Never Varies, Always consistent).
My Truth…. Your Truth – Each person has his/her own story of facts but the truth remains the same. …
Jn 16:13 – When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
Jn 17:17 – Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
Note: Teen asking simple yet profound question:
1.How do we take things to God?
2.How Do we Leave them there?
Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Demonstration – Hamper full of Stuff
There is good stuff, bad stuff, trauma stuff, financial stuff, kid stuff, parent stuff, spouse stuff, disappointment stuff, health stuff….
Trust the Lord
The way to not take things back is to remember that you gave it to him in the first place.
Remembering & Reminding of the truth of His Word –
Summarization at the End:
Today’s Pressure requires a true commitment to God!
How do we give things to God? How do we leave things in God’s Hand?
The more you give to God and leave in His hands, the easier it becomes….Learned behavior, a skill set…. a discipline!
Take the faith you have (However bir or small) Go to the Lord
He will send you to the Word / Give you a word.
Believe that Word. Hold on to it. Repeat It. Believe it…wait for the manifestation of it.
14 I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes
