Day 7

Word for today … Pray with Passion

Day 7

James 5:16b

The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Fervency speaks of our level of intensity, passion, and persistence. It is fervent prayer that is always the precursor to revival. Many times, we can lose our passion in prayer or stop praying for certain things altogether because we lose heart or give up. But God invites us to keep them before Him and trust Him for an answer in His time.

(Matthew 7:7-11) The Old Testament prophet, Elijah, practiced a lifestyle of fervent, intense prayer and he witnessed incredible miracles in his lifetime as a result. In 1 Kings 17:17-24, we read of a woman whose only son became ill and died. When Elijah heard the news he quickly took action and did what he knew best – he fervently cried out to God. Elijah fully believed that God could bring the boy back to life, and he didn’t pray just once. It is recorded that he prayed three times for the boy’s soul to return to him. He prayed fervently, repeatedly and he wasn’t going to give up.

Verse 22 reads, “then the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived.” God honored Elijah’s obedience and fervent prayers and brought the boy to life. God hears your prayers as well and will bring an answer in His perfect timing. But don’t be discouraged or disheartened if the answer is not exactly what you expected. Commit to praying to God with passion and persistence, trusting the answer will come in God’s perfect way and in His perfect timing.

Jessica Morton says:

God is You are so wonderful! I am so thankful for this season of praying and fasting. God is moving like never before, if nothing else He has blessed me with the yawning to desire Him, the need to hear from Him, and the faith I needed to believe in Him! All of which, is nothing compared to the multiple things he has been doing in my Life. I can truly hear his voice as John 10:27 says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” How awesome are You God, that Jesus Professes this deep, deep, inner connection between you and your people. I am so thankful that you have chosen me God, I am not worry, yet still You love me, You comfort me, You bless me! Thank You for allowing me to hear, thank You for allowing me to see, thank You for allowing me to be apart of Your body like never before. I am in awe of You, and I look forward to each day because I get to talk to You, You are never far from my thoughts, in fact you are every thought and I thank You, for our friendship, our love, and Your covering. Acts 8:13 says, “Even Simon himself believed, and after being baptized he continued with Philip. And seeing signs and great miracles performed, he was amazed.” Thank you God, I look forward to your miracles, as You are constantly doing a new thing in the lives of many around me and in my life as well. Thank You God. Thank You. You are all deserving and I am honored to be apart.

In Jesus Name Amen
