Day 14:
The Guarantee of Answered Prayer
Scripture Reading:
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV)
Reflection:
This famous text is not a carte blanche for our material desires. Rather, it tells us how to pray and focus for the character of The Kingdom in our lives.
Jesus sets high standards for us—righteousness, sincerity, purity, love, honesty—that are impossible to achieve on our own. These demands drive us to the cross, acknowledging our need for Jesus’ righteousness and forgiveness.
Listen again to what Jesus says here. When we ask for the Kingdom realities described in the context to be accomplished in our hearts and lives, God will do it. He will give them to us! When we seek God’s wisdom and strength to carry out His commands, we will find those things becoming a reality.
We’ve often heard it said that God answers prayers with “yes,” “no,” or “wait.” However, every time in the scriptures when prayer was coupled with fasting, the Lord granted the request.
Yes! When we knock at God’s door, He always hears and stands ready to pour out from His vast supplies whatever we need.
Is that how you think of God? Is that how you think of prayer? “You have not because you ask not.” Let’s pray together.
Prayer for the Day:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith and expectation. We declare that our prayers are aligned with the benefit of Your Kingdom. We trust in Your perfect will and timing. We decree that Your plans for us are good, and we stand on the promise that You hear and answer our prayers. Let Your will be done in our lives as it is in Heaven.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
