Mark 5:30-34
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’”
32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing.
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.
34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
This woman, whose name we do not know, had a serious issue. According to Hebrew law, when a woman had a discharge of blood, she was considered unclean. Not just her, but anything that she touched. For 12 long years, this woman lived her life isolated and alone. She had spent everything she had, trying to get herself clean, to make herself “normal,” but no one could help her. She was considered to be incurable. No one wanted to be near her and she was not allowed to enter a place of worship. However, she heard that Jesus was on a healing journey. She was sure that if she could just touch the hem of His garment, she would be made whole again.
We must realize that underneath our issues lies our wholeness. It’s been there all along. The closer we move towards Him, the less our issues become a factor. God’s desire is for all of us to live in wholeness. But we have to want it, we have to choose it, and we have to claim it. It’s truly within our reach.
Lord, we love You and adore You. Thank You for another day and another opportunity to grow closer to You. Give us strength, as we continue on this healing journey with Jesus. Help us to embrace the beauty of wholeness, in our daily reach towards You. For it’s only in Your presence, that we find fullness of joy, hope and healing. We give You all the glory, honor, and praise.
