Vision for Families

By Jason Booker

We all need a vision for our families.  As the Israelites were about to conquer and claim the promised land, Joshua proclaimed that he and his household would serve the Lord.  No ifs, ands, buts, or hesitation about that.  As popular culture states: He said it with his whole chest!

However, we have been seeing an erosion of the family.  This is due in part to men not operating as heads and stating that it’s God that they will serve.  Proverbs 29:18a states that “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”  If families have no vision, direction, or leadership they will also perish.

Praise God for excellent men that have stepped up to the awesome responsibility to lead their families and a host of single-family households that are leading with vision and godly insight in this challenging culture.  We pray for their continued strength, provision and guidance. We also pray for individuals that are strongly connected to God and for families to have great leadership and vision in their households.

As followers of Christ, we must first make sure we are in alignment with God, then instruct our families to do the same. So goes the families, so goes the community, the nation, and the world.

Joshua 24:15b “…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”  Amen!
