Devo Day 4 (day)

Day 4:
Strength, Honor, and Humility on 9/11

Scripture Reading:
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”

Reflection:

As we enter the fourth day of our fast, we find ourselves on a day of profound remembrance—September 11th. This day, etched into our collective memory, is a testament to the strength, honor, and humility displayed by countless individuals in the face of unimaginable adversity.

Strength: On this day, we remember the incredible strength shown by first responders, ordinary citizens, and families affected by the tragic events of 9/11. Their courage and resilience remind us that true strength comes from within and is often revealed in our darkest moments. As we fast, let us draw on God’s strength, knowing that He is our refuge and ever-present help in times of trouble.

Honor: The selfless acts of bravery and sacrifice on 9/11 are a powerful example of honor. Firefighters, police officers, and everyday heroes put others before themselves, embodying the highest form of service. In our fast, let us honor their memory by committing to acts of kindness and service in our own lives, reflecting the love and compassion of Christ.

Humility: The events of 9/11 also teach us humility. We are reminded of our vulnerability and the fragility of life. Yet, in our humility, we find a deeper connection to God and to one another. As we fast, let us humble ourselves before the Lord, seeking His guidance and grace in all that we do.

Prayer for the Day:

Heavenly Father, on this day of remembrance, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the strength, honor, and humility shown by so many on 9/11. We ask for Your continued comfort and healing for those who were affected by this tragedy. As we fast, help us to embody these virtues in our own lives, drawing closer to You and to each other. May we find refuge in Your strength, honor You through our actions, and walk humbly with You every day. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen. Amen.

Action Step:

Today, take a moment to perform an act of kindness in honor of those who showed such incredible strength and honor on 9/11. Whether it’s a simple gesture or a significant act of service, let it be a reflection of God’s love and grace in your life.
