The kind of love that you and I are called to demonstrate must be seen and experienced. Love is a choice and the wonderful work of prayer is a choice. The power of prayer in a family is the very foundation that keeps a family unit together. Most of us have heard the phrase “A family that prays together stays together.” This concept is so true, as a family that has their focus on praying to God has a foundation that may be shaken at times, but it will withstand all that comes against them. The famous “love passage” of 1 Corinthians 13 helps us understand what love is and what it looks like in daily life. This passage of the Word establishes the fact that love is not primarily an emotion but an action. We pray in this special time of consecration that we are taking bold action to build a lifestyle of prayer for and with our families. The magnitude of blessings found in this simple discipline will yield miracles, open doors, changed lives, and destiny far beyond our imagination. Are you loving your family with prayer? Prayer of Protection for Your Family
Lord, I pray Your emotional, physical, and spiritual protection over my family. Keep evil far from them and help them to trust You as their refuge and strength. I pray You will guard their minds from harmful instruction and grant them discernment to recognize truth. I pray You will make them strong and courageous in the presence of danger, recognizing that You have overcome and will set right all injustice and wrong one day. Help them to find rest in Your shadow, as they live in the spiritual shelter You provide for them. Let them know that the only safe place is in Jesus, and that their home on earth is only temporary.
